2005 “Presidents Award”

Joe started attending the Woods and Waters Club Banquet shortly after arriving in Cleveland in 1976. He was delighted to find like-minded sportsmen at the monthly luncheons and joined the organization thereafter. He became active on various committees, became an Advisor, and was elected to the Board of Trustees. Joe was the first president to serve two terms from 2001-2003. During his tenure, emphasis was placed on creating a family environment especially youth and women’s activities. The Club newsletter was initiated followed immediately with the web-site. The Club’s activities offered were expanded and diversified. The relationship with other conservation organizations were strengthened and expanded. Financial and budget systems were developed for both the Annual Banquet and the Club.

Due to the financial success of the fund-raising efforts, the support for community organizations has been increased. Joe serves on the Board of Trustees of the Presidents Scholarship Foundation. He is a life member of the NRA and the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association. Joseph “Joe” DiGiacomo Jr.

Joe belongs to Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, and the US. Sportsmens Alliance, The Ohio Gun Collectors Association and is a member of Beaver Creek Hunt Club. Joe has developed many friendships within the Club and recognizes their contributions in all that has been accomplished. He and his wife Sandy have three children and five grandchildren.

Community Outreach

The Woods and Waters Club of Northern Ohio through the Contributions Committee supports numerous organizations and activities. To facilitate their outreach programs, funding and equipment was provided to the following:

Great Trail Council-Boy Scouts of America, Greater Cleveland Council-Boy Scouts of America, The City of East Cleveland-Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center, Cub Scout Pack 228, St. Malachi Center, St. Augustine Rainbow Camp,“Turn in a Poacher” Program (TIP),The Merrick House,Fatima Family Center,Wild Turkey Federation (Women in the Outdoors),Lake Erie Boating and Fishing Fest, NationalWest Side Ecumenical Ministry Youth Activities, and the Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry for the Young African-American Reclamation Project
