Rob Sexton
Vice President for Government Affairs
U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance
Rob Sexton joined the staff of the US Sportsmen’s Alliance in 1995. Then the WLFA, Rob served in the state services department, which handles legislation. Over the past nine years Rob has risen through the ranks coordinating the organization’s political strategies along the way. During his tenure with the US Sportsmen’s Alliance Ohio sportsmen have achieved some of their greatest victories. Three specific areas stand out:
Time and time again, the US Sportsmen’s Alliance has fought to protect the integrity of sportsmen’s license dollars from being raided by politicians looking to balance Ohio’s budget using hunting and fishing license dollars.
Ohio passed legislation opening Sunday hunting for all game with restrictions in 1998. In 2002, the legislature removed the remainder of the restrictions, treating Sundays like all others.
One of the most pivotal victories in the history of the sportsmen’s movement was the defeat of State Issue 1, which would have banned mourning dove hunting. Rob managed the vote no campaign which was prevailed 60%-40% state wide, and won all eight-eight counties.
Prior to joining the USSA staff, Rob served a Legislative Aide to the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a 1990 graduate of The Ohio State University. Rob is married with four children. An avid hunter and angler, Rob enjoys perch fishing on Lake Erie, and no surprise, dove hunting the most.
